Skiing
The surrounding ski areas Kitzbühel, Kaprun, Zell am See, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Weißsee, Wildkogel and Krimml / Gerlos offer our guests perfect winter sport facilities. The next ski area Kitzbühel Alps was awarded in 2015 as “the world's best ski area”. It has 170 km of slopes, numerous cross country skiing trails and can be reached in 10 minutes by car. More information on the Kitzbühel Alps ski area can be found here.

Cross-country skiing
Mittersill is offering numerous possibilities for cross-country skiing:

Blizzard trail
Only minutes away from our house starts the Blizzard trail - about 3.1 km extends the artificial snow trail and is lighted from 5 PM – 9 PM. This trail has a double track for classic skiing and a skating trail.

Pinzga Trail
More than 200km long is the Pinzga Trail which extends along the valley of Salzach between Krimml and Zell am See / Fusch and Rauris. The Pinzga Trail offers both a dual track for classic skiing and a skating trail. The Pinzga Trail includes several high trails like the moor trail at Pass Thurn. More information on Pinzga Trail, a cross-country ski map and tour suggestions can be found here.

Moor trail
Just 10 minutes away from our house is the sunny moor trail at Pass Thurn at an altitude of 1250m. About 22 km long is the double track for classic skiing and the skating trail there. The moor trail offers both beginners and advanced skiers the right trails.

Toboggan
In the ski area "Wildkogel" in Bramberg / Neukrichen am Großvenediger find the longest toboggan run of the world. This extends over 14 kilometers and is only 15 minutes by car away from Vordergugg. The lift in Bramberg, called “Smaragdbahn” and the lift in Neukirchen, called “Wildkogelbahn”, bring guests to an altitude of 2200m. From the top you can admire the illuminated track until 10 PM. You can be tobogganing about 1350 vertical meters down or making after the half track a small stop in the hut "meantime". The ascent to the mountain station is possible until 4 PM. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the lift “Smaragdbahn” in Bramberg and on Saturdays the lift “Wildkogelbahn” in Neukrichen runs in suitable weather until 6.30 PM up to the mountain station.

Information on other toboggan runs you can find here.

Winter hiking
The Hohe Tauern National Park offers even in winter numerous hiking opportunities. Take part in one of the guided snowshoe hikes that are offered directly by the National Park. The snowshoe tours lead among others to the Krimml Achental with visit to the Krimml Waterfalls or into the two valleys Sulzbachtal and Hollersbachtal. For families with children we can recommend the wildlife watching tour with feeding deer in Habachtal. We can sign you in these and other guided winter hikes at national park administration.
