The Ghyll
Set in wonderful countryside with spectacular views of Arkengarthdale, The Ghyll offers quality bed and breakfast accommodation.
The northernmost dale in the district is the remote valley of Arkengarthdale. Leading from Reeth in Swaledale, the Arkengarthdale road rises steeply into leadmining country; an industry which thrived here until the turn of the century. Perhaps more sparsely populated than other dales, it has a bleak and dramatic appeal.
Swaledale is famous for its hardy breed of sheep and the spectacular wildflower meadows which are a blaze of colour in June and early July.
Reeth, the 'capital' of Swaledale, just three miles from The Ghyll, has easy access to unspoiled and varied landscapes. There is a variety of inns, cafes, and craft shops around Reeth's village green.
The Ghyll features:
- Two doubles and one twin room, all en-suite
- Colour TV, tea and coffee facilities, shaver points, hairdryer in all rooms
- Full English breakfast with vegetarian choices
- No smoking environment
- Dogs welcome on prior request
- Packed lunch if ordered previous night
- Guided walks by arrangement
The Ghyll is an ideal base for walking and touring Swaledale, Arkengarthdale and Herriot country.
