Western House is a traditional 1850’s Edale, gitsone house standing in Grindsbrook Booth – one of the five ancient settlements forming the parish of Edale.

The house stands at the official start of the famous Pennine Way. The rallying point for the mass trespass of the nineteen thirties is at the bottom of our lane.

Western House is set in a quiet location among a cluster of cottages of a similar age, and older, at the foot of Grindsbrook Clough in one of the country’s now scarce dark spots, with no street lighting and hence no light pollution. From the front gate there are some of the best and most picturesque walks in the Peak District.
